CO-OPERATIVE LIVING

What Is A Housing Co-operative?

A home governed by the people who live in it.

More Than A Place To Live

Maple Glen Housing Co-operative Inc. is proud to be part of the cooperative housing movement and a proud member of the Co-operative Housing Federation (CHF).

A housing co-op is more than just a place to live — it is a community built on participation, shared responsibility, respect, and cooperation. Unlike traditional rental housing, a co-op is governed by its members. Residents work together to help guide the community, support one another, and make decisions that benefit the co-op as a whole.

Co-operative housing plays an important role in creating stable and affordable housing communities while encouraging connection, inclusion, and long-term community growth.

Residents vote on decisions, elect a board, and actively shape the direction of the community.

Why The Co-Op Model Matters

We are proud to be connected to the larger cooperative housing network through the Co-operative Housing Federation (CHF), which supports housing co-ops across Canada.

At Maple Glen, we continue to build on these cooperative values by working together to create a caring, respectful, and thriving community for current and future generations.
